The Granville Historical Society will host a St. David's Day Banquet on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in the Bryn Du Carriage House at 537 Jones Road in Granville. The event begins at 6:30 PM.
Saint David is the patron saint of Wales. He was a Celtic monk, abbot, and bishop who lived in the sixth century. He was the archbishop of Wales and one of many early saints who helped to spread Christianity among the pagan Celtic tribes of western Britain. Celebrating his feast day is in keeping with the strong Welsh heritage in the Granville area.
Guest speaker for the banquet, Sian Williams Stow, will speak on "Growing Up Welsh". Sian was born and raised in Caernarfon, Wales. She now lives with her husband Jon in a house that was built by a Welshman in 1832 in Shandon, Ohio. The Stows restored the home and opened it in 2001 as the Plas Cadnant Bed and Breakfast. The Stows enjoy traveling and visiting family and friends in Wales and England.
Menu for the banquet includes two traditional Welsh soups, hearty breads, cheese, relishes, desserts, and beverages.
Reservations to attend the banquet may be made online OR should be sent with payment to the Granville Historical Society, P.O. Box 129, Granville, Ohio, 43023 not later than February 27. Tickets are $22.00 for GHS members; $25.00 for non-members. Seating for this event is limited
